When I was interviewed for my internship, I was asked a simple question.
“Why?”
And it’s a fair question. Anaesthesia is a daunting field, and for many in the industry, it’s not seen as a primary career option. I was certainly met with a lot of confusion when I told people I was pursuing an anaesthesia internship my first year in practice.
But my answer now for why I chose this path is exactly the same as my answer then.
I genuinely love anaesthesia, I find it fascinating, intellectually fulfilling, and immensely enjoyable.
It’s an area that I am always happy to keep learning more in, I have a drive and passion for this field.
It is an area that I feel like our industry has room for growth and improvement. And, as a new(er) vet in the industry, I strongly believe that like my contemporaries, I have an obligation to this industry to improve it for the better. And the way that I think I can do that is by helping others learn, grow, and improve their anaesthetic practice.
KAAE is an idea that has been brewing for a long time, but the end of 2021 is when it finally solidified into a business. The core values of this enterprise look to reflect what I hope to bring to those I educate; passion, understanding, and curiousity.
I want anyone who learns with KAAE to leave any and every session with a renewed passion for this field of veterinary medicine, increased understanding about best practice and current gold standard care, a fierce curiousity about what more there is to learn, and underpinning all of it, a dedication to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.
